FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I register for "On Holiday"? There will be three steps to registration:

1) Pre-registration: You will fill out a short registration form on the On Holiday website, just click the "register" link on menu on the right side of this page. Then, click "pay" and you can pay via credit card. We ask that people either pay in full all at once, or pay a $50 deposit. We ask that people please complete Pre-registration by the end of April.

On Holiday Program Fee Schedule:
Single Adults (over 18): $180
Married Couples: $330
Youth (12-17): $80
Children (under 12) FREE

2) Reserve your lodging starting February 4th, 2008. All housing arrangements can be completed by contacting Lakeside Chautauqua Realty. This can be done by visiting the Lakeside website at Lakeside Lodging. Once you're there, you can see the different options like camping, cottages, hotels, bed and breakfasts, etc... For cottage rentals, you'll be shown a list of cottages complete with all the information you'll need to know about them. It is advised that you pick out 2-3 different cottages that you would be interested in renting. Once you have a few cottages in mind, call the number for Lakeside Chautauqua Realty, and a member of their staff will handle the reservation from there. Make sure you reserve for the dates of "On Holiday" week. (8/16-6/23).

3) Once you've reserved your cottage, we'll invite you to come back to the On Holiday website in order to notify us of your accommodations and pay any remaining balance on the your program fee, if necessary. Once we have everyone's accommodations, we can make a map to hand out to participants which will let everyone know where people are staying, so we don't waste any time once we're there trying to find out what cottage our friends are staying in.

What will it cost? Basic Cost = On Holiday Program Fee + Lodging

Lodging: $150 per adult single approx. $350 per adult married approx. Cottage rental rates are set by the owners, so this is only an estimate of the cost of lodging. The true cost of renting a cottage will depend on the quality of the cottage, and the number of people sharing it. Also, please be aware that there is a 9.5% tax, and $45 booking fee which are extra.
Basic cost estimates are $330.00 - for a single and $900-$1,300 per couple/family. Remember, this estimate includes only the basic charge of the Program Fee and Lodging. Your personal food and extra activities will be added to this.

What does the Program Fee Cover? The program fee will cover daily passes for Lakeside, room rentals for our group activities, as well as administrative costs for running the event. It will also cover our catered Lord's Day meal that we are planning for the evening of Saturday, August 16th, as well as some other snacks that we'll have throughout the week at our group events.

How do I get there?: Follow this link for a Map of Lakeside. You can type in your home address to find driving directions.

Why are we having this event? Everyone loves a vacation. Why not take a vacation with brothers and sisters in the SOS? Many folks in the second wave (2nd generation), unless they are very active in youth/UCO/SPO work, don't get the opportunity to fellowship with brothers and sisters from other SOS communities. This will be a great opportunity to refresh the old and start some new relationships and also be encouraged by the Lord together.

Who is invited to attend? This event is for SOS-NAR committed (affiliate, underway, full, or whatever your community calls these) members ages 22-44 post UCO/SPO. It is not an evangelistic event. However, you may want to invite those people who are just being introduced to our way of life and you think this would be very helpful for them. Exceptions can be made, but must receive the recommendation of a coordinator in your community. We are also encouraging at least one coordinator and his family to attend from each community.

What will the schedule look like? We are planning a very light group schedule. This event will be much more fun if everyone participates fully in the group schedule. We are including morning prayers, Lord's Day and dinner, BBQ with entertainment and an evening prayer meeting. There will also be planned day-activities inside the Lakeside Resort, as well as outside the resort (i.e. Cedar Point). All in all, this is YOUR vacation and we want it to be just that.

Will there be childcare? Lakeside has a supervised playground area but SOS will not be providing childcare.

What about food? Participants will be responsible for all food/meals except those that are part of the event schedule. We expect that many families and groups will get together to share meals during the course of the week.

Is alcohol permitted? Lakeside does not permit the consumption of alcohol in any of the public areas, meeting rooms or open public spaces.

Can people come for part of the week? This is a possibility but costs may not be significantly reduced. Cottages or hotel rooms are very expensive on a daily basis.
